The Chestnut has become an extremely popular choice for whitetails. With production starting at a young age, and the high palatibility of chestnuts, I’d say all the attention is warranted. Expect production at around age 5 with annual production going forward.
The Hybrid variety will produce a larger nut than the Chinese Chestnut.
Drop time: Sept.-Nov.
Soil Requirements: Thrives in well drained soils. Do not plant in areas that stay saturated.
Zone: 5-9
