The Loblolly Pine has become the dominant tree species in most parts of the southeast due to its rapid growth and timber value. Our containerized, Improved Loblolly Pine is a great choice to plant for natural screening and cover. Whether you are concealing a stand, creating a buffer or adding edge cover, Loblolly pine is a fantastic native selection.
Pines planted close together (6’-8’) will have a tall, straight growth form. If you space them out (we prefer 20’) they will grow wider with more branches and a low crown. 20’ staggered spacing is preferred when looking to create a visual screen.
Seedling height: 15”+
Mature Height: 60’-90’
Mature Width: 25”-30”
Zones 6-9
Soil type: acidic loam or sand, as well as clay soils. Will tolerate some moist soils and brief intermittent flooding.
