Water Oak Seedling
Quercus nigra
Height: 10”-18”
The water oak is a personal favorite and often overlooked by whitetail managers. Water oaks are the first to start dropping acorns in the fall and the last to finish dropping in the winter. They are productive at a young age and deer simply love them. If you overlook water oaks while out hunting, or fail to incorporate them in to your management plans, you’re missing out! Did I mention they are tough as nails?
Find a water oak dropping on the edge of a beaver pond or impoundment and there is a good chance you’ll know where the ducks will be. Water oaks tolerate some flooding, making them a great selection for those managing for waterfowl.
Zone 6-9
Soil type: produces well on a wide variety of soil types, from loamy uplands to moist bottomlands
We are now accepting orders for Fall 2024. Please select a ship date between August 1 and December 31.
**Please Note that seedlings are removed from containers prior to shipping.
