Mother tree purchased from Jim Lawson, Ball Ground, GA. Hawkins pear was a tree that James Bagwell from Webb, Georgia found at a old home place in north Fulton County, Georgia. That tree was a large Callery pear on one side and this fruiting pear on the other, suggesting it was a grafted selection. James took photos of the tree on Sep 12, 2009. At that time the pears were still too green to eat. They were good to eat by early November and hung on tree until early December. Fruits are from baseball-sized to 1 pound. Good for canning. Ok to eat. We’ve observed its fruit hanging in perfect condition during the last week of November.
