The white oak is likely the most iconic tree among deer hunters, and for good reason. There is a hardly a bigger draw to a deer herd than a large crop of white oak acorns. And when they are dropping, you’ll want to make time to be in a nearby tree. Maybe I’m biased because of how much deer love these acorns, but the white oak is one of the prettiest trees in the forest.

Drop time: October- early November

Soil type: well drained to moist soils, avoid bottomland soils that flood or remain saturated
