The Chestnut has become an extremely popular choice for whitetails. With production starting at a young age, and the high palatibility of chestnuts, I’d say all the attention is warranted. Expect production at around age 5 with annual production going forward.

The Chinese Chestnut will produce a slightly smaller nut than the hybrid chestnut. However, The Chinese Chestnut will outproduce a hybrid in the vast majority of cases.

Drop Time: Sept.-Nov.
Soil Requirements: Thrives in well drained soils. Do not plant in areas that stay saturated.
Zones: 5-9
